Send a few pings and report round-trip and loss.

## Parameters

| Parameter | Default | Meaning |
| --- | --- | --- |
| `host`<span class="req">REQUIRED</span> | | |
| `count` | `3` | Packets per run. |
| `spacing` | `200ms` | Between packets. |
| `max_rtt` | | Average above this is **degraded**. |
| `max_loss_pct` | | Loss above this is **down**. Total loss is always down. |

The addon prefers an unprivileged datagram socket, which macOS allows by default and Linux allows for group ids inside `net.ipv4.ping_group_range`. If neither that nor a raw socket can be opened the check fails with an **error** rather than reporting the target down: "we lack permission" and "the host is unreachable" are opposite conclusions.

## Measurements

`rtt_min_ms`, `rtt_avg_ms`, `rtt_max_ms`, `loss_pct`, `packets_sent`, `packets_received`.
